AMROC To The Rescue

We recently had a call from Coed-Y-Mwstwr, the popular hotel and wedding venue in Coychurch, Bridgend, to say they had an emergency with their hot water system.

The call came in on a Tuesday and with a wedding booked at the hotel that weekend, we understood the urgency of the situation and sent one of our engineers to the site the same day to assess the situation.

The Situation:
The Grade 2 listed building uses two pumps to push water to a series of water tanks located on the roof of the building. These tanks then feed water to the large heating tanks located in the attic which in turn, heat the radiators within the building.

The hotel had noticed an overflow of water from one of the roof-based water tanks and that some parts of the hotel did not have heat, despite the radiators being on.

On inspecting the boilers in the attic, they noticed one was damaged and it was at this point they contacted us.

Our Assessment:
Upon inspecting the tanks, it was apparent one of them had imploded due to a pressure and temperature imbalance resulting in the system being redundant.

The outcome:
After ordering the necessary parts, we returned to the site within 24 hours of visiting to begin ripping out the old system and installing the new one.

This was a phased project as our first concern was to ensure the system was safe and no further issues would occur. We then installed a small system to allow the wedding to take place without issue and over a period of days after the wedding, we installed the new, larger system.
